Shining Light

About me…and you and the blog.

Isn’t it funny how two words can unlock countless rooms of experience and character in order to create a person’s story?.. or at least the intro. I find that fascinating and it is the reason why I try to spend so much time getting to know the people I surround myself and cross paths with. I’ve built my own business around just that concept – getting to know you and being aware of your strengths. That encompasses every player and facet from the chief individual(s) to the team to the craft. If we were each equipped with a canvas compiling all the colors and mediums of our character, what a wonderful place it would be. Like living inside out. Genuine and free form. Acknowledging the beauty in our differences rather than judgment and criticism. With that we encourage sustainability and growth both in my office at M Agency and in my day-to-day undertakings in the world. The journey is such a fulfilling one especially when we’ve accepted our weaknesses, honed in on our strengths and learned to embrace the quality of our life and our light.

I am Washington-made and I so love the resilience and vast talent that keeps our communities strong. When was the last time you reached out and connected with someone new or rekindled something old? It’s what we’re going to do here: Reflect on some past and current potholes that mark the journey and have ultimately brought us to this point; Focus on the common ground which unites us in shared dreams, shared struggles and general perspective; Learn something new; Be energized and empowered. Be present! Personally I like to institute things like green drinks and healthy eating habits, meditation and breathing exercises, among my daily pursuit of maintaining accountability.

I am a wife, mother, and business owner, among other things. “How do you do it?” It’s a question I’m posed with time and time again and even I have days where I’m racking my brain with the same. The answer is many blogs long but key concepts for survival include balance and priority, discipline and discernment. I wouldn’t be able to do it without my amazing support network so it only seems right that I take a moment to honor those key players in my game of life:

  • My loving & hot husband Chris, the “laundry fairy”, who has spent over 10 crazy years by my side (years?)
  • Two sweet little Bailey’s that have grown my heart beyond measure, Ayden and Parker
  • My amazingly talented marketing team
  • My super nanny, Kayla
  • My food wizard, Karla, who stocks and preps healthy eats in our home
  • Karen, an angel who helps tidy up after the week’s three ring circus
  • My family and friends who continue to encouragement and uplift me

My village. My army. It was a leap to convince myself to enlist so much help. But with a fire fighting husband who is often away for work, with kids who depend on my energy and sanity, and a company set upon my shoulders, I needed to be realistic with myself and find a way to balance the weight. With these systems in place, I am fiercely available, focused when I need to be and everywhere at once when I can be.

But that doesn’t mean everyday is an easy one. My past is ridden with physical trauma and emotional roller coasters, from a debilitating nerve condition in my face and my eye-opening experience with Western medicine, to dietary restrictions and raising a baby with severe allergies. Life can be so cold sometimes. On top of the skeletons in the closet, it seems impossible to avoid negativity from outside sources, especially when you refuse to build walls around your spirit. Let’s be real. Why not find a reason laugh when it’d be too easy to cry? The critics are out there, everywhere, and even still, as professionals, or parents, or humans in general, we are harshest of judges on ourselves. But success and happiness are not pipe dreams. Even when all seemed lost I kept fighting, because I believed in my business and in myself. I knew my story was still being written and I wanted a hand in that plot. With the right tools and practiced perspective, trials can translate to triumph. So when those cloudy days roll in I return to my motto, “Shine your light!”

Whether singing it with ease or screaming it in demand on those days when the odds are against you, wake up each day and refuse to give in to defeat. Don’t let circumstance or self deprivation suffocate that light. Surround yourself with a team and enlighten your consciousness with inspirational words and ground breaking figures, like Breene Brown and Tony Robbins (a few of my favorites). And if ever my flame falls dim I look to my story, to my family, to my team, to my blessings and I find the fuel to keep going. It’s time to commit to yourself and your psychological and spiritual wellbeing. YES!!!

“Promise me you’ll remember: You are braver than you believe. Stronger than you seem. Smarter than you think.” Even Christopher Robin knew.

Let’s keep that up. Let’s do it together.
Thanks for joining me.
